About me

I was born and raised on the North Sea coast of the Netherlands and studied Dutch language and literature at Utrecht University, specializing in psycholinguistics. After my studies, I worked there as a lecturer in communication sciences.

In 2000, my family and I moved to Germany — a shift that led to a new professional path. I coordinated the International Max Planck Research School for seven years, while also studying Embroidery and Design during evenings and weekends.

Later, I became editor-in-chief of a Dutch textile art magazine published by a German press — a dream job that allowed me to combine language, visual art, and textile practice. When the magazine was sold, I continued as editor for a while, then worked independently as a translator of textile-focused books.

Drawing and painting have always been part of my life. These skills were essential for my large textile wall pieces and eventually led me to study painting at the Wiesbadener Freie Kunstschule. I completed the foundation program in 2021/22 and resumed my studies in May 2025 with renewed focus.

My artistic work explores themes such as womanhood, human nature, birth and death, and the space between dream and reality. I’m drawn to the emotional tension that can be held in a single, simple line. My style often blends abstraction with figuration.

Working digitally allows me a deep sense of expressive freedom — layer by layer, I build toward a final image, which is then printed on high-quality paper.
